Funeral Services for William Arthur Harrison

Funeral services for William Arthur “Bill” Harrison, 72, of Zavalla, will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Pastor Keith Woolf officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow in the Zavalla Cemetery under the auspices of the Angelina Masonic Lodge #1263, A.F. & A.M.

Mr. Harrison was born August 31, 1940 in Beaumont, Texas and died Saturday, June 29, 2013 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Mr. Harrison has been the owner of Massingill’s Meat Market since 1977, where he and his wife, Jan, worked side-by-side serving Lufkin and the surrounding areas. He was a member of the Angelina Masonic Lodge #1263, A.F. & A.M., and of the Wells Masonic Lodge #915, A.F. & A.M., where he served as Past Master for both lodges and as District 21-A Deputy Grand Master. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Zavalla. Mr. Harrison had resided in Zavalla for the past 42 years, and had previously lived in Houston for 10 years.

Mr. Harrison loved to travel, and he loved his kids and grandchildren. Most of all, he loved Jan, his childhood sweetheart.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Jan Harrison of Zavalla; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jack Tinsley of Zavalla; son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Beverly Harrison of Tyler; three grandchildren, Rachel Byrd and husband Ron of Austin, Andrew Morehouse and fiancée Allison of Austin, and Brian Harrison and wife Lilia of Dallas; mother, Bess Harrison of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Pat Harrison of Jasper; father-in-law, William Hubert Jones of Zavalla; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Vicki Lea Havard of Zavalla, Charlene and Kurt Adams of LaMarque, and Kathy Havard of Friendswood; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by his father, Donnie L. Harrison and his beloved mother-in-law, Naomi Jones.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Martin, Chris Ward, Bobby Fitts, Brandon Fitts, Preston Brown, Jerry Harrison and Donnie Puckett.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Terrell and Anthony Buster.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Scholarship Funds of either the Wells Masonic Lodge #915, P.O. Box 600, Wells, Texas 75976, or the Angelina Masonic Lodge #1263, P.O. Box 114, Zavalla, Texas 75980.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
